Can you help us to resettle a refugee family in London?
We are in the final stages of applying to bring a refugee family to Haringey under the Home Office Community Sponsorship Scheme We are now issuing a call for volunteers to join us.
RIGHT NOW WE NEED PEOPLE TO HELP US TO:
Find accommodation
Offer us expertise in claiming benefits
Promote us on social media platforms
Design and distribute leaflets
Fundraise
Prepare information packs to help the family get to know Haringey on arrival
SOON WE WILL NEED PEOPLE TO:
Decorate and furnish the accommodation
Do DIY/ house improvements
Befriend the family (see here for more information on befrienders: https://tottenhamrefugees.org.uk/wp/how-to-volunteer/ )
Offer translation services – Arabic/Farsi (depending on our family’s requirements) Translate from to English and vice versa.
Teach English to the family
Help the family to get to know their local area, especially shops, schools, GPs and local transport
It takes a community to resettle a family – with a large group of volunteers the load is spread. Whether you have a relevant skill or not, and whether you can donate a lot or a little of your time, it’s all very welcome.
